The mission of the University IT Service Management Council (IT Council) is to foster a collaborative exploration of IT service management and delivery at Illinois State.
IT transcends the traditional, vertical administrative structures found in all universities. “Technology is much more of a spider web, creating and allowing interdependencies among existing [administrative] structures”. Technology development in one area can affect other areas that may appear superficially to be unconnected. IT is an indispensable core utility that seeks an increasing portion of a University budget that is, at best, barely growing. For these reasons it is critical to the overall efficiency of IT at Illinois State that the different IT units work collaboratively to continually improve IT service management and delivery.
